Fire and rescue services

Oulu-Koillismaa fire and rescue service is a non-profit public utility of 17 municipalities and a part of the City of Oulu organisation.

Fire and rescue service duties are defined in the Rescue Act and Regulation. The most important duties include the prevention of fire and other accidents, rescue and extinguishing procedures required by accidents and incidents and civil protection. In addition to the tasks and duties regulated by law, fire and rescue services are responsible for ambulance transport and arranging paramedic procedures in nine municipalities to support the said transport.
